“Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand”

Palyul Namcho Dzogchen Retreat

with Khen Rinpoche Pema Choephel

 at the German Palyul Center

The Annual Palyul Namcho Dzogchen Retreat, called “Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand” (Tib. Dzogchen Sangye Lakchang) is held between 2 and 14 July each year at the German Palyul Center.

The authentic retreat, led by Khen Rinpoche Pema Choephel, begins with an Introductory Class and Ngondro practice, and ends with the highest Dzogchen practice.

Palyul Namcho Lineage

The Namcho teachings are known as "Space Treasures". They were revealed in the 17th Century by the Terton Migyur Dorje (1645-1667), who received them from Avalokiteshvara and Guru Rinpoche, and have been passed down from master to student through the centuries. The blessings of the Palyul lineage are pure and unbroken till nowadays.

Khen Rinpoche Pema Choephel received the Namcho Ngondro teachings and practice from His Holiness Penor Rinpoche (1932-2009).

Following the Advice of My Root Guru

His Holiness Penor Rinpoche and Khen Rinpoche Pema Choephel

Since I was eight years old until now, I grew up under the care of His Holiness Penor Rinpoche. He is my master and like a father to me, always supporting me with love and compassion.

In 1996 His Holiness told me that he wanted to establish branch centres of the Palyul Lineage in European countries and gave me his blessing to work with all my heart for the spreading of Dharma in Europe.

Following the advice of my Root Guru, I came to Europe and I started giving Dharma teachings. I established the Palyul Dharma Centre in Greece, Palyul Centre UK and the German Palyul Centre. His Holiness Penor Rinpoche really trusts and supports me, that is why he was very happy to visit these centers several times and help the Dharma students. This was a rare chance for Western people to receive blessings and teachings from such a great master. His Holiness told me that now is the right time to spread one of the highest practices in the Nyingma Palyul tradition, called “Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand” (Tib. Dzogchen Sangye Lakchang) that is why once a year I am doing a big Dzogchen retreat. I wanted to invite His Holiness to start the Dzogchen retreat in the Palyul Dharma Centre in Europe in 2007 but due to his health problem, and after that his mahaparinirvana, I cannot do that. That is why I started the Dzogchen retreat for the first time in July 2009 with the blessing of my teachers His Holiness Penor Rinpoche, His Holiness Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and Nyoshul Khen Rinpoche.

I hope Buddha Dharma will spread in this world, in Europe and especially Germany where we made the Palyul Retreat Centre. I really believe that Buddha Dharma will help people to attain peace and happiness because it is the seed of peace, the seed of happiness and the seed of wisdom. That is why as much Dharma grows everywhere, that many people will develop peace and happiness, with more understanding and respect. Thanks to Dharma they will be able to realize exactly what love and compassion are. I strongly believe that the spread of Buddha Dharma is helpful for all kinds of people in this world no matter what their religion might be; Buddha Dharma can help everyone.
