TIBET FOUNDATION, a non-political registered charity (no.292400) was established in 1985 with the aim of promoting the culture, religion and way of life of people of Tibetan origin. It aims to help raise the standards of education and healthcare in Tibetan communities and to support the continuity of Tibet Buddhism and culture.
THE TIBETAN PEACE GARDEN is one of the major projects commissioned by the Foundation. His Holiness the Dalai Lama opened and blessed the Tibetan Peace Garden on 13th May 1999. He has dedicated the Garden “to the courage of the Tibetan people and their commitment to peace”. He appreciates its importance as a “symbol to remind us that human survival depends on living in harmony and always choosing the path of non-violence in resolving our differences”. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary this year His Holiness reaffirmed his support and said that the Garden “has both a practical and symbolic value”.
